Lake Pukaki

I didn't take my tripod to New Zealand this year because last year I used it very infrequently. Plus it is a bog standard tripod without a panoramic head. The view of the lake was so spendid that I decided to try a panorama by standing in one place and pivoting myself about 5 times, each time taking one photo whilst keeping my hands and elbows still. When I got home, my November issue of Your Family Tree magazine was waiting for me and one of the full products offered in the free disc that comes with it was a Serif program Panoramaplus 1.0. I thought "Why don't I try out this program rather than a couple of others I have to see what the results will be".These others have given me disappointing results and have required subsequent manipulation.
The lake picture is the result and to say that I was pleased is an understatement. Apart from loading the 7 photos, and pressing the stitch button, the program did the rest and I've not altered it in Photoshop in any way so I'm seriosly thinking of buying version 2.
Has anyone else used this program?

It looks good. It seems to

It looks good. It seems to have done pretty well with what you can see in the small version you've uploaded. I've not used Panoramaplus so don't know what it's like. I think you picked a good / forgiving subject for the panorama which would not show errors as much as a man made / other subject might. You seem to have got the pivot point of the camera in a reasonably good place leaving you with not much paralax error to cope with. The rocks in the foreground hide any that might be left. The sea / horizon is a bit too curved for my liking but you could probably get away with that. I think I can see evidence of one of the seams in the middle of the image but I don't think anyone who's not like me and intentionlly looking for it would notice it. How much is this Panoramaplus? (Given you can get quality stitching software for free as open source) Have you tried it on any other images? If it works for you then go with it.... :-)

Larger version

I have uploaded the large version. I found I had to click on the image to get to the intermediate size then on view original. Not sure why. The large version looks even better.

Yes you will have to

The intermediate version is the one that is shown in when you click on the thumbnail. It will only show the really massive version if you click the 'view original'. This is how the software on this site works. When I upload panoramas I do it slightly differently which may have confused you.

On second looking it looks like you the water is all washing out of the left hand side of the image.....it could do with some rotation to make the horizon more horizontal ;-)

(Did you notice the comment your pot melt post got?)
