A tube worm which is a relative of jellyfish type animals and sea anemonies. The tentacles wave in the seas and catch minute plankton by means of small barbs called nematocysts. When threatened the tentacles can withdraw into the "tube" for safety.
Apologies to any zoologists out there if any of this is factually incorrect, I am trying to remember zoology lectures from 40 years ago!
