Sea Wall by Lobster Smack Pub

Sea Wall by Lobster Smack Pub

As we had our testing of the sirens today which warn of imminent danger of floods and in view of the horror in New Orleans, I thought I would post a picture of the sea wall which runs around the island. The higher section was built after the 1953 floods which cost about 50 lives. The Lobster Smack is an ancient pub reputed to be that mentioned by Dickens in Great Expectations. Most of the housing is on the other side of the island which faces East.
