I finally got my new toy through this week, a Creative Zen Touch.

Of the reviews I'd read it seemed like the Creative player has many advantages over the IPod and since I've bought other creative products and been very happy with them I thought why not.

I chiefly bought it to give me something to listen to on the walk to and from work every day and I can honestly say that I've been looking forward to every walk this week which is not usually the case.

I found a site hosting mp3's of the original Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy radio show and each morning and evening I manage to listen to a couple of complete episodes. I've also downloaded a few albums of music but to be honest at the moment I'm more interested in the audio book side of things as it gives me something to concentrate on while I take the mind-numbingly boring journey to work.

In regards to the player I found that I had no problems what-so-ever with the touch-pad and getting it to scroll in a fashion I wanted although some reviews suggested that it was difficult to use. Personally I think that anyone who can use a touchpad on a laptop could cope with it. I've never played with an IPod so I couldn't compare with that. The player is not too big and fits easily in my pocket although I tend to use the carry case that came with the player and that almost doubles it's size. The earphones are slightly uncomfortable but then it's been my experience that earphones are very personal - what one person finds wonderful another person cannot stand. A new pair will probably be the first thing I'll invest in.

Overall I am very happy with it.
