I finally took the plunge and submitted a couple of entries to Worth1000.com. They are Autumn Palette and Colour me "Granny" which is a colouring exercise for someone elses line art.
The granny colouring is good. i had to check the original to see what you /had/ to colour in. nice.
The "palette" shot is very well done too. I might have given it a bit more space on the edges but other than that its good, all in focus, the brush leads you in. Nice.
I was rushed for time on the colouring unfortunately. I only saw the challenge about 10 hours before it finished (I think it was a 6 or 7 day one) and so I ended up running out of time. After six hours, a beer and the clock hitting 2AM, I finally admitted to myself that I was falling asleep at the keyboard. For every one part I was happy with I was having to fix two mistakes I had created and I decided to just submit what I had.
It seems to be the general concensus that the pallete shot is cropped too tight even though I prefer it tighter than to have the whole thing fit into the frame. You're right about the window light on the right. I tried using flashlights and the overhead light to get something interesting to happen across it but they didn't really work very well.
