Now that I've finally got my coursework out of the way I've had time to have a go at sorting out some of the photos that I took at my brother Mat's graduation on the 1st of September. The light was pretty harsh and trying to get my brothers to pose for photos in which they both look at the camera and smile at the same time is difficult but there are some reasonable ones. It was a good day out, we all got to be proud of the 'baby of the family' and the 'baby' seemed to enjoy himself. Now if I could just get both my brothers to smile!

Reasonable
These are not reasonable, they are fantastic, although I am biased. I particularly like the Mum and Dad one. The Matt shaking hands has come out brilliantly. You don't notice the sling at all. My photos were all a bit crap, but I'm getting better at photographing my beads. I've bought three clip on lights at £1.99 each and some daylight bulbs ( Hobbycraft have them reasonably priced ) and arranged the telephone directories at the correct height to get the best close up shot that's not blurry. Just a thought, do you want me to get some of these lights for you while they are in stock or will you pass for now.
Lights
I've also bought a daylight bulb from Hobbeycraft but I just end up putting it on my bedside lamp after I've removed the shade. Did you get the clip on lights from Hobbeycraft as well? If so I can just go down there when I need them. A different sort of light is what I'm worrying about at the moment. I think I might be helping out a friend (Adam) with some promo shots for some of his friends (It'll be good practice for me) but I'm not sure what sort of pictures they're after or where we might be taking the pictures. I'm slightly worried by how creative I might have to get as I don't own a flash or any studio syle lights. I'm sure whatever happens it'll be OK.
Mum and Dad Pic
I got a couple of what I consider good ones of you and Dad together when you were sitting there. I ummed and ahed over whether to upload this one or one where you were both laughing together. I picked the first one obviously. I'll have to arrange to get the disk of pics circulated out to everyone again.
Lights
No, from Joka's. They'd obviously got stock from somewhere else as the original price was £4. But they were selling for £1.99 so I bought three while they had them. The Hobbycraft daylight bulbs were about £1 cheaper than the ones bought locally so will definately go back there next time. I've been looking for shades. The only idea I've come up with so far is to buy three cheap ones and line them with kitchen foil. I don't fancy cutting holes in three stainless steel bowls to use as shades although they would be ideal. I suppose I could use the jig saw with a metal cutting blade or failing that take ages to cut out circles by hand with a silver smithing saw. I woke Matt up and told him you'd posted his grad photos on the Net and got a grunt. He is not working today. Incidentally he has stopped wearing his sling and using his arm a little, but I've done the Mum thing and cautioned him to be careful. I bet it's a great relief to have the coursework done now. I had thought you might be in Germany this past week. Did you go?
Germany
I didn't get to go in the end. Apparently it was 'more important for me to stay in the UK and continue what I'm working on'. It was not an entirely unwelcome decision as it allowed me to spend a bit more time finishing up my coursework. I'm currently working on transforming one of the panoramas I took in Germany last time I was there into something that is vaguely interesting. It's taking a while though...
